Auntie?s Persimmon Cookies are deliciously moist, with the wonderful flavor of cinnamon spice. The Holiday Season wouldn?t be complete without this old family favorite recipe.

I have very fond memories every Fall of making my Auntie?s Persimmon Cookies with her. They are the perfect Holiday treat. Whenever the beautiful orange fruit would show up at the grocery store, we would go and carefully pick out the ones that were soft to the touch. Then we would take them home and wait for them to ripen. When the fruit is fully ripe, it almost melts in your hand. After you peel them, the pulp just falls into the bowl.

Persimmons are a very delicate and wonderfully delicious wild fruit. The taste of a fully ripe persimmon is superb, and incomparable to any other fruit. They are bursting with sweet flavor, which makes it perfect for baking. These cookies are soft, spicy cake-like cookies with delightful persimmon fruit, nuts and sweet golden raisins. With the syrupy maple glaze, they are completely addictive. Or for a more Christmas look, make the white chocolate frosting version. Either way, you are going to love them!
